If you're looking for a beautiful spot for couples photos near Austin, 5 Mile Dam Park in San Marcos is a favorite of mine.


Located along the Blanco River, this park has a little bit of everything. Rocky riverbanks, tall grasses, a variety of trees, lush greenery, rolling hills, and easy access to the river all create a gallery with lots of variety without needing to walk too far.


One of the best things about this location is the evening light. It faces the setting sun, but because the sun drops behind the hills a little earlier than you'd expect, I recommend starting your session about 15 minutes before the usual golden hour.


This session was photographed primarily on 35mm film with a few digital images mixed in. I love the timeless feel film brings to a place like this.
